How to Find a Balance with Makeup

So you’re planning a night out on a town or a comfortable, cozy dinner date with your partner, and you’re having makeup issues. This happens to all of us – even professionals have had some bad makeup days. What you may not know is that there are some tips you can follow to help you find, apply and rock your makeup look to go with any occasion possible.

A big thing to keep in mind when planning your makeup look is how you are going to be wearing your hair. Often times when a hairdo is up and extravagant or overdone, and the makeup is overdone, it can get a little drag queen/Stephen King’s It when all’s said and done. Doing your makeup in the opposite style of your hair is a good tip to keep in mind. Another great tip to keep in mind is to do the opposite with your lips/cheeks as you do with your eyes to avoid overdoing it on everything.

The occasion for which you are putting on makeup is also important to consider. For example, a night out on the town will probably include some night clubs with very dark lighting, which means you need brighter and heavier makeup to be seen then you would in a well-lighted restaurant. Or for a night with a partner in a romantic setting where your will be sitting close enough to see every line, you may want to go light on the makeup in order to be seen in the most flattering way.
