Tips on How to Fight Wrinkles

The skin is the biggest organ of the body. It is not only a protective cover for a person’s flesh and bones but a living breathing organ that requires taking care of and proper nurturing. The skin of the face is one of the most sensitive areas of this organ. Without proper care and nurturing, facial skin dries, wrinkles, develop crow’s feet and eye bags around the eyes, sure signs of aging that women want to avoid as much as possible. They say that we are what we eat. But our attitude towards life, our lifestyle and what we ingest in terms of ideas and thoughts to feed our minds in addition to the food that we eat shape the kind of person we turn out to be.

Wrinkles are natural signs of aging, but in some women, the aging process is accelerated not only with bad eating habits but also with bad habits in general. Bad eating habits such as a predilection for refined sugar and processed food and bad habits such as smoking and drinking alcohol are bad news not only for the health but for the skin particularly. Women who love refined sugar and processed foods and drink and smoke to boot are likely to have more wrinkles to show than women who are wiser in their choices.

Sugar makes skin age more rapidly. It affects the elastin and collagen in the skin that results in the skin losing its youthfulness resulting in sagging skin that makes room for wrinkles. While alcohol brings about facial swelling that stretches the skin and cause wrinkles on top of being sugar rich. The effect of cigarette smoking on the skin on the other hand cannot be reiterated enough. Smoking is bad for the health, and worse for skin. It ages skin faster than anything else other than sun damage. If you want to look younger and care about wrinkles then quit smoking.
Now we go to what is good for the skin. Contrary to common beliefs that the sun is bad for the skin, the truth is the sun is good for the skin as long as you don’t bake yourself under its punishing rays. Ten to fifteen minutes of morning sunlight provides Vitamin D and energy to the body. Food that contains antioxidant and essential fatty acids are what the skin need to avoid wrinkles. Vitamins A, B, C, and E are antioxidants and food that contains these vitamins are:

• Spinach, liver, sweet potato, mangoes, carrots, milk, egg yolks are some of the foods with vitamin A
• Vitamin B5 is a B complex vitamin that breaks down oil and promotes healthy skin so does Vitamin B3. Sources of Vitamin B5 are meat, vegetable and unprocessed and whole grains while vitamin B3 is found in poultry, fish, red meat, peanuts and fortified cold and hot cereals.
• Vitamin C forms collagen that is essential for healthy skin. It is found in great quantity in red berries, tomatoes, kiwi, green and red bell peppers, and juices from guava, orange and grape fruit.

Essential fatty acids or the good fats are divided into Omega 3 and Omega 6. The source of essential fatty acids is extra virgin olive oil, virgin coconut oil, walnuts, tofu, and ground flax seeds. Photo Copyright of PR PHOTOS
