Having Smooth Lips – Blistex Medicated Lip Balm Review
Blistex Medicated Lip Balm Review
One key to having smooth lips that hold my lip color is Blistex. I had used the Raspberry Lemonade (ahhhh…) for a few months when I discovered I needed something a bit stronger.

In explanation, I discovered that I have a bad skin reaction to a combination of Blistex and Noxzema. It wasn’t an intentional mixing, but it wasn’t a good one either. I awoke to puffy, cracking, dried out lips. I couldn’t even fully open my mouth because of how bad it was. My regular Blistex wasn’t working and I was almost out anyways. I quit the Noxzema. It wasn’t working for me, and I certainly wasn’t giving up my Blistex. I used up my Blistex, hoping it would help. The results weren’t much better. So, I grabbed my best guy friend and we headed up to 7-Eleven aka Blistex Carrier Heaven.
Blistex Medicated Lip Balm

I almost grabbed my usual Raspberry Lemonade, but with the medicated kind caught my mind. I paid for it, and unwrapped it as soon as we go inside.
The second I applied my this kind of Blistex, I knew it was a good idea. It was just as smooth, and I could feel it gently tingling on my lips. I reapplied it frequently over the night and the next day, my lips were peeling, but not painful as they had been for four days. I could open my mouth! My lips are back to being smooth and I am working on the very corners of my lips which took the most damage, but they are doing pretty well. My mouth is still openable, so I am happy.
I am a little disappointed you can’t taste this product, but knowing me, I’d lick it all off and have even more problems if it was good tasting. There is a hint of mint if you lick your lips, but it’s more of the feel of mint without the taste. Like when you feel the tingle, but no taste. Taste aside, this is a prime example of why I stick with Blistex. It works for me, isn’t sticky, and makes my lips smooth with regular application.
Advantages of Mineral Makeup
Advantages of Mineral Makeup
The makeup industry introduces new products every year, and some of them create worldwide waves. Mineral makeup is one such product, and there are a number of reasons why every girl should have this in her makeup bag.

How does mineral makeup differ?
Mineral makeup differs from conventional makeup in a number of ways, but the main difference lies in its composition. There are a number of standard substances that makeup consists of. Mineral makeup consists of the essentials like zinc oxide, mica and titanium oxide. The color pigments are natural, so they don’t irritate the skin in any way. Conventional makeup contains this as well as additives like preservatives, dyes, and fragrances, which are not good for the skin at all.
What are the advantages?
Some of the minerals present in this makeup are reported to soothe the skin and have certain anti-inflammatory properties. Mineral makeup does not clog pores, so you won’t end up with unsightly pimples. This is especially great for young women who still have to deal with the issue of acne and who use makeup to cover it up. Mineral makeup gives you a more natural look, unlike conventional makeup that is easily noticeable. It is long lasting and easy to remove at the end of the night.
How do you apply it?
Mineral makeup is applied in much the same way as conventional makeup with slight differences. All you need to do is remove excess makeup and wash your face and allow it to dry. Use a brush to apply the mineral makeup. You won’t even have to use concealer or additional powder, because this will get both jobs done. Best of all it will feel like a second skin, so you won’t have to walk around feeling like you are wearing a mask.
Grooming Your Eyebrows
Grooming Your Eyebrows
Taking care of your eyebrows is really important, whether you’re applying makeup or not. Here are a few tips to groom your eyebrows. Keep in mind that grooming your eyebrows doesn’t just mean tweezing and waxing—there is a bit more to it.

http://www.makeup-style.info
1.Tweezing and waxing. For waxing, it is recommended that you go to a salon. They generally have a better idea of what they are doing, although there have been accidents. You can also buy eyebrow shaping stencils. Simply darken in the area where the stencil is and then tweeze around. Make sure to keep a note of where each hair is and where the root is. Be careful not to grab skin when tweezing.
2. Cleaning it up. This is cleaning that needs to be done for those who already waxed/tweezed or those who have good eyebrows that just need a bit of help. You can take clear mascara or an eyebrow brush spritzed with hairspray to groom your eyebrows. If they fly in all sorts of directions making them appear haphazard, this is a quick fix to get them looking nice and neat for whatever occasion. It doesn’t take too much effort on your part.
3. Darkening. Sometimes you want your eyebrows to be a bit darker—don’t go for black unless you have black hair. And even then, you want to try a dark brown first. You can use a pencil or an eyeshadow that is similar to your hair color. Dark brown is a good choice and lighter brown for those with blonde hair. Use a small brush to apply the eyeshadow. Be careful to only add a little bit at a time until you get it to the desired darkness. Remember that less is more.

Simple School, Work Makeup 2010, 2011 Tips
Makeup can seem to be tough. You may not know what exactly to apply when going to work and school. After all, a night on the town is easy—bright colors, false lashes, etc. But for school and work, you want something muted but pretty. Here is a simple tutorial for any woman looking to jazz up here appearance for work.

First, wash your face. If you have dirty or oily skin, this can make your makeup streaky and you may have a bright oily spot. YUCK! Simply wash your face with plain old bar soap—it also helps to keep your face pretty and clean. Make sure if you have oily eyelids to take care of them also. They need just as much TLC as any other oily spot.

Apply concealer and foundation if you use it. If you use your concealer on your eyes, it acts as an eyeshadow primer. Simply dab a bit on and spread it where you want the eyeshadow. Also keep in mind that your concealer should be maybe just one shade darker than your skin tone. Any darker might look fake, even under your foundation. Set with powder. This prevents transfers and gives you a lovely, matte face texture. Pick a natural lip shade. If you can think of the color of your lips after you eat something –that exact shade is about what your lip color should be. You can afford for it to be a shade or two lighter, but be careful that it doesn’t look garish.

Choose your eyeshadow! Don’t pick bright blue eyeshadow and smooth it all over your eye. Dark and bright blue eyeshadow is for the nighttime. In my honest opinion, even little girl play makeup kits shouldn’t have this blue, simply for the fact it feeds into the “I have to wear a bright color!” mindset. Don’t wear frosty colors past your crease. With bright colors, follow the same idea. You can have a dramatic lid color as long as everything else is muted.
Then there is eyeliner. When it comes to eyeliner, remember that not every single eyeliner application requires a wing. Winged eyeliner is pretty when applied correctly, but it isn’t an everyday look. It’s more of a “oh, I feel like it today.” Or “Hey, it’s a special occasion!”

Makeup Tips For Everyday Outfits

There has been more than one occasion in which a outfit has been ruined by sloppy makeup. It’s not intentional most times, but you also have to keep in mind a few things when it comes to makeup.

First, look into a good eye primer. This helps prevent creasing (which not only detracts from the color but also just doesn’t look right) and makes the color look a little bit brighter. The main thing is that it gives your makeup something to stick to. On the other hand, you can also look into using liquid concealer. It isn’t quite as effective as primer, but it is cheaper and can be used for a short period of time.
Secondly, make sure when applying lip liner to line your whole lip. Nothing looks sillier than wearing a rim of lip liner around your lip. When your lip color fades, you’ll also be left with a much richer color than if you had only lined around your lips.
Thirdly, use a foundation close to your skin tone. If you don’t, then it looks ridiculous. Also keep in mind to blend down further into your neck so that you have an even skin tone all the way down.
Another thing is to mind your eyebrows. If you’re a redhead, for example, you shouldn’t be using a black pencil for your eyebrows. Choose an orange or red pencil or use eyeshadow instead to give your brows the color without the clown, so to speak. Make sure that they are cleanly groomed and that they aren’t sticking every which and way either.
How to Assemble a Novice Makeup Kit
How to Assemble a Novice Makeup Kit
Starting out with makeup isn’t easy. You still have a lot to learn and a lot to figure out as a novice. This article is here to help you figure out just what you need as far as the realm of makeup goes.

First of all, try to keep your makeup choices simple. This doesn’t mean to rush out to Sephora and start buying expensive makeup. Start at places like Dollar Tree and Wal-Mart and drug stores. When starting out, you don’t need all of the expensive makeup. You need something simple and chic to give you an idea of what to look for when you do start to use more expensive makeup. This is also good for mom’s of young girls who want to start using makeup.
1. Powder. Don’t rush for the foundation just yet. As a beginner, it can be hard to achieve the look that you want—and in some cases, you don’t need or shouldn’t use the foundation anyways! True, cleansing your face will help, but there’s also the issue of getting into the rhythm of cleaning your face specifically for your makeup!
2. Olive oil. This may seem ridiculous, but olive oil is a cheap, effective, and works great for getting all of your eye makeup off. It also conditions your eyelashes—and extra bonus. It doesn’t sting when it gets in your eyes either. You might have to blink a few times to get rid of the odd feeling, but afterwards, you’re feeling fine!
3. Lip balm. This can be tinted or regular lip balm. It might seem like something that isn’t that important, but a lot of lip products are drying and can leave you with sore, raw lips. There’s nothing fun about having painful lip color—lip balm will help you by keeping your lips happy and moisturized. If you’re having a particularly bad week with your lips, pull out the medicated lip balm!
4. Lip color or lip gloss. You need to pick a color that is close to your own. Make sure that your lips are well moisturized before using lip color or it will flake and peel.
5. Mascara. Mascara can be extremely useful for making your eyes pop, but don’t’ PUMP your mascara! What does this mean? Well, when you apply it, you dip it into its container, pull it out, and apply it to your lashes. If you need a wee bit more, put it back in and pull it back out and reapply. Don’t repeatedly pump it up and down—this dries your mascara out from inside the bottle. It also can give you clumpy eyelashes—some girls end up looking like they have two eyelashes at the end of it! Also, if you are blessed with amazing long eyelashes, simply omit the mascara. You’re fine without it!
6. Natural Eyeshadows. This is pretty much self-explanatory, but get eyeshadows that match your skin tone or come close to start out. It can be tans, brown, light reddish pinkish tans, and pretty much anything else close to skin tone.
This list is just an example. It is up to you to make your kit how you want it. All it takes is your imagination. Eyeliner is omitted because of its difficulty of use for beginners, but it can be added as well. Keep in mind that this kit can be built up as you get better at makeup.
Eye Shadow Tips for Bringing Out Deep Set Eyes
Eye Shadow Tips for Bringing out Deep Set Eyes
Deep set eyes can be a pain to put makeup on in order to make them seem less deep set. Using eye shadow in the wrong way can make eyes look even more closed off rather than open and shallow set. There are many tips and tricks, however, to use makeup to your advantage to help your eyes stand out rather than sink in, and bring out the best in your eyes.

The first tip when using makeup to your advantage to combat deep set eyes is to avoid using dark colors on the brow bones of your eyes – this will just make them look more deep set and less shallow. Brushing a deeper shadow color just above your eye’s crease – this brings out the natural contours of your eyes without sinking them in deeper, by using contrast. Using mascara generously on both the top and the bottom lashes can do wonders for opening up the eyes and helping them look more shallowly set. Only apply eyeliner thinly and without a thick, chunky look to them – this can make the eyes look too heavy and deep set and can do the opposite of what you need it to.
There are a few things to avoid when trying to bring out deep set eyes. One is avoiding very dark eye shadows on the brow bones of your eyes. Another is using shimmer and glitter on these brow bones, which can make the eyes look too much deeper set than necessary. If you are using any glitter or shimmering eye shadows, use these in the crease or just above the lashes of the eyes.
How to Use a Video Makeup Tutorial The Easy Way
How to Use a Video Makeup Tutorial The Easy Way
Using a makeup tutorial might seem easy. After all, all you have to do is watch someone apply their makeup and copy them—right? Not so. In fact, there is quite a bit more that you need to keep in mind.

1. Watch the tutorial beforehand. This allows you to make a note of anything that you may need or of anything that you may want to purchase before you attempt the look. It also gives you a better idea of how long it will take, how strenuous it might be, and a variety of other things. Don’t just jump into the makeup. If you do, chances are that you will end up with a mess or screwing up somewhere. That way you not only know what you need to do, but you also have the know how.
2. Use what you have. Don’t rush out to the store (unless of course you have absolutely no makeup. Then you just might want to.). Try to use whatever you have on hand. Maybe you don’t have a similar color—in that case, use something different. Maybe you don’t like the colors that are being used. Use different ones then. It doesn’t matter what you do—just make sure that you enjoyed it!
3. Take notes. Make sure that you make notes of anything that the person doing the makeup says. If they say that if you do the wrong stroke, a giant talking llama will ask for your license and suspend it, then make sure that you make a note of it. These can be mental notes or physical ones. Do whichever works the best for you.
4. Make sure you can pause. When you’re finally ready to do the look, make sure you are able to pause and rewind. This means not to use a mobile phone, unless you have the option of pausing and rewinding.
From there, have fun and good luck!
Au Natural for Those More Fond of Dramatic Looks
Au Natural for Those More Fond of Dramatic Looks
If you’re more into dark, dramatic looks, changing to something a bit more natural can be a bit of a task. After all, what looks natural? What doesn’t? How can you transition? First of all, you need to look at your eye makeup. It is usually the most dramatic of a woman’s makeup. What are you wearing?

Dark eyeliner. True, it’s normal to have a black eyeliner pencil kicking around in your makeup bag, but if you’re looking for something more natural, then you might want to opt for a brown instead. You also want to keep the liner on your top lid as thin as you can possibly get it and as close to your lash line as you can possibly get it.
Mascara. If you don’t have black lashes already, or you’re more fair skinned and light haired, you may want to look into different color of mascara. Brown and grey are both options to help you look a bit more natural.
Brows. This is generally a given anyways, but use a pencil or eyeshadow very close to your hair color, or just a tad darker. For redheads, you can use a brown pencil if you wish, but could also give an orange eyeliner very close to your natural color if desired (depending on how natural you want to look).
For lips, keep everything either nude, or, for simplicity, eat something! This may sound ridiculous, but your lips tend to flush when you’re eating. Look at the color or take a picture if needed. This is the darkest that you can get if you want to look natural. This also gives you a bit of playroom for your lipcolor, because you don’t absolutely HAVE to get that dark.
Face. Keep foundation as close as possible to natural skin color. If you can’t get it quite right use a setting powder that is a little darker or lighter to help even up your skin tone to make it look more natural.
