Black Lipstick, Tips, Advice 2010

The makeup industry has undergone numerous changes, some of which have been inspired by new fashion, and some that have sparked new trends. Black lipstick is one such trend that has been around for quite some time, and girls around the world are considering adding it to their makeup bags.

Brief history

Black lip color has been around for longer than you may think. In some cultures it is used as a sign of victory, while in others it is just intended to clarify tribal identification. It has been used as part of costumes in horror movies, especially those featuring vampires. It was only recently that it became associated with punk rockers and Goths.

Who looks good in it?

No matter what color a lipstick is, it has the potential to look really good or really bad on somebody, and the same is true for black lipstick. Because it is a dark lipstick it will complement any dark feature, whether it is skin tone or hair colour. It would suit those with lighter skin tones and dark hair, if they don’t mind being mistaken for a Goth. People with very dark skin tones can also pull this off, especially if they have very dark eyes. Generally the youth tend to be able to work the look better then children or adults.

How to wear black lipstick

When wearing black lipstick you should follow the rules of makeup and create a balance. Since you’ll be having dark lips, you want to pay down the eye makeup. Some light eyeliner may be in order but that is where it should stop. As far as application goes, it is best to use a brush so that you can apply it smoothly and evenly. You may even decide to get dark reds or purples that appear almost black, if you can’t see yourself wearing black.
